SkyTeam Invites Customers to Share Airport Tips

Customers share over 800 tips on Facebook, enhancing fellow travelers’ airport experience

Summary

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, makes use of the holiday season to celebrate the success of its SkyTips campaign. Customers worldwide are invited to share their airport travel tips on Facebook for a chance to win tickets to China.

Every month a member airline provides a prize for the tip with the most votes on the SkyTeam Facebook page. December’s prize is offered by China Southern: two winners will each receive two round trip tickets from the USA, Europe or Australia to Guangzhou in China, offering the winners a chance to experience the Chinese New Year celebrations at the end of January 2012. Tips can be posted between the 1st and 31st of December 2011.

Since the SkyTips competition was launched in June 2011, the SkyTeam Facebook page has grown from 1,500 to almost 46,000 fans. “SkyTips is one of a number of innovations we are developing to enhance our customers’ airport experience and the response has been phenomenal,” said Fatima da Gloria de Sousa, SkyTeam’s Director of Brand and Communications. “SkyTeam members serve hundreds of airports worldwide, and with thousands of extra travelers flying over the holidays our online competition will enable our global customers to share handy hints on keeping ahead of the crowds.” More than 800 airport tips have been posted to date.

SkyTeam’s Facebook competition builds on the alliance’s celebrity SkyTips campaign, launched earlier this year as part of a refreshed SkyTeam.com. The campaign features five famous high-flyers from around the globe, who have teamed up with SkyTeam at some of the world’s largest airports. Each celebrity has filmed a short, how-to video, packed with tips and advice to help passengers get the best out of their time at SkyTeam hubs.

To enter the competition, customers need to like SkyTeam’s Facebook page and click on the SkyTips icon. There is no limit to how many tips customers can post; winners are decided by the number of votes each tip receives. Detailed conditions can be found on the SkyTeam Facebook page. January’s prize will be announced on January 2nd 2012.

SkyTeam’s celebrity SkyTips are available on SkyTeam.com and YouTube and feature:
