KLM to serve as partner and title sponsor of the KLM Open up to and including 2022

KLM The Netherlands will be extending its contract as partner and title sponsor of the KLM Dutch Open up to and including the year 2022. Harm Kreulen, Managing Director KLM The Netherlands made this announcement at a press conference at Bernardus Golf in the town of Cromvoirt (Brabant), were the following three editions of the KLM Open will be played.

The first Dutch Open took place in 1912. In 1981, the tournament was supported by its first title sponsor making it the KLM Dutch Open. KLM served as the tournament’s title sponsor up to and including 1990. In 2004, the airline resumed this position. Since then KLM has served as the title sponsor of the biggest international golfing tournament on Dutch soil. The 2019 anniversary edition welcomed more than 50,000 spectators, who were able to enjoy four days of top golfing. It remained exciting until the last moment – only after the last put and ahead by only one shot, Sergio Garcia became the winner of the 100th tournament.

KLM is pleased with the extension of its title sponsorship of the KLM Open up to and including 2022. The KLM Open has grown to become a leading event in the golfing calendar, synonymous with a professional, top-notch multi-day golf tournament in the Netherlands. The tournament exudes both national and international allure and ties in well with our objectives. In addition to visibility for KLM, the KLM Open is a high-standing sporting event, perfectly suited to strengthening our relations with customers and partners.
Harm Kreulen, Managing Director KLM The Netherlands
The partnership between the Dutch Open and KLM is one of the longest-standing cooperative relationships in the history of Dutch sport and the European Tour. We are incredibly pleased and proud that KLM, a strong Dutch brand, has chosen to extend its ties with the tournament. This serves as a brilliant complement to the sports marketing agency TIG Sports, and reaffirms the level of synergy between KLM and the game of golf. It also means that we will be able to achieve further growth together, innovating and improving the event in a drive to make it future proof.
Daan Slooter, Tournament Director KLM Open
