KLM Media App replaces newspapers on board

Summary

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines launched the KLM Media App last October. This app provides KLM passengers access to 20 national and international newspapers on their smartphones or tablets. The KLM Media App kicked off with 13 digital newspapers and has now been expanded to offer 20.

The app provides easy access to the full range of papers offering up-to-date news at all times and for all passengers, on both European and intercontinental flights. From the start of the summer schedule on 26 March, the KLM Media App will replace all paper newspapers on board in Economy Class. Paper newspapers will continue to be provided in World Business Class.

Sustainable
Reducing the number of paper newspapers on board will result in a 21,000 kg reduction in weight and onboard waste. Annually this will save KLM 295,000 litres of kerosene and cut CO2 emissions by 750 tonnes. This is equivalent to emissions generated by 95 Dutch households in a whole year.
