KLM Traffic Figures for May 2017 - Increasing passenger numbers drive passenger load factor to record high
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines welcomed 10.5% more passengers on board. With available capacity up by 6.7%, passenger load factor once again increased to a record high of 87.4%, representing a 2.6 percentage point increase compared to the same month last year.
The greatest increase in passenger numbers was driven by the European market – in addition to Central and South America – where KLM and Transavia are consistently regaining market share.
The traffic figures for May show good results again. Our strategy of focussing on the customer, product and expansion of our network – with the addition of 12 new KLM destinations this year alone – is already bearing fruit! KLM is well on its way to achieving its target of transporting 32 million passengers in 2017
KLM Cargo also shows favourable traffic figures. On the whole, traffic volumes rose by 1.3% in May against a capacity increase of 0.8%, generating a marginal cargo load factor increase of 0.4 percentage points.
