KLM and Qantas expand codeshare cooperation

KLM starts cooperation with Qantas affiliates JetStar Asia Airways and JetStar Airways

Summary

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and Qantas, have today announced an additional codeshare agreement creating new options for customers travelling between the Netherlands and Australia. In this agreement Qantas will add its code on KLM’s daily flights between Amsterdam and Bangkok and KLM will add its code on Qantas international flights between Bangkok and Sydney.

KLM Frequent Flyers will be able to earn and redeem points and status credits when travelling on the Qantas network including flights between Amsterdam and Bangkok. This includes specific benefits such as priority airport services and additional checked baggage allowances. Eligible customers will be able to access to the KLM Lounge in Amsterdam and Bangkok, in addition to the Qantas lounges in Sydney.

In December, KLM plans to roll-out a codeshare cooperation with Qantas Group airline JetStar Asia Airways and JetStar Airways*, connecting respectively in Singapore and Denpasar, providing a wide range of destinations in the South-eastern Asian region.

Beyond Amsterdam to Singapore flights, KLM will place their code to 9 destinations operated by JetStar Asia Airways: Da Nang – Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City – Vietnam, Medan – Indonesia, Surabaya – Indonesia, Phnom Penh – Cambodia, Siem Reap – Cambodia, Penang – Malaysia, Phuket – Thailand, Yangon – Myanmar. Beyond Amsterdam to Denpasar flights, KLM will place their codeshare on 4 destinations in Australia operated by JetStar Airways: Adelaide, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

It will help to drive tourism and economic and cultural exchange between The Netherlands and Australia, by facilitating reciprocal leisure and business travel. Our codeshare arrangements with JetStar Airways and JetStar Asia Airways, and the addition of their extensive networks to our schedule, marks another milestone in our Joint Business. This is great news for our customers who now have even more flexibility when travelling between Europe and Asia.
