International animal welfare organisation applauds KLM

Summary

KLM received the Good Egg Award because it serves eggs and egg-based products bearing the Beter Leven ("Better Life") seal of approval, eggs derived from Roundel housing systems, and organically produced eggs on flights in Economy and World Business Class. These include ICA flights originating in Amsterdam and European flights.

KLM no longer uses eggs laid by battery hens. In 2013, the Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals, Dierenbescherming gave KLM its "Good Chicken Award" for serving chicken bearing the Beter Leven ("Better Life") seal of approval.

The Good Animal Welfare Awards are presented each year to businesses that have taken steps in recent years to improve the quality of life of farm animals.
