In so doing, AIR FRANCE KLM is opting for controlled growth while providing additional capacity for emerging markets.

</pp:boilerplate>

KLM efficiency drives growth
In its own network, KLM will deploy 2.6% more capacity* in summer 2014 than it did in summer 2013. This growth will largely be achieved within Europe where capacity will be increased by 7.8%. KLM’s international network will grow by 1.5%.

KLM will succeed in achieving growth in its European network by deploying its fleet more efficiently. The network has been adjusted to optimise fleet utilisation and turnaround times have been tightened further. Additionally, KLM’s European fleet will be expanded with a 48th Boeing 737 Next Generation effective summer 2014. Fleet expansion and optimisation will enable KLM to serve 71 European destinations (incl. Amsterdam) in summer 2014 in comparison with only 67 in summer 2013.

In addition to these new destinations, KLM will make seasonal adjustments to capacity in accordance with market demand and will seek to strengthen and, where possible, expand cooperation with partners.

(* ) Capacity measured in available seat kilometres (ASKs).

European network expanded by four new destinations
KLM will be adding four new destinations to its European network in summer 2014. Bilbao (Spain) and Zagreb (Croatia) will both be served daily from 26 May 2014. Turin (Italy) will even be served twice daily from the same date. Florence (Italy) is also new to the KLM summer schedule; KLM began operating a service to this destination in winter.

KLM will also be increasing daily frequencies to a range of destinations. For example, there will now be five daily flights to Bergen (Norway), three daily flights to Moscow (Russia), and Athens (Greece) will be served twice daily.

Reinforcement of existing partnership network in North America
In North America, KLM will be strengthening its position within the existing joint venture network operated by AIR FRANCE KLM, Alitalia and Delta Airlines. For example, KLM will be taking over a direct flight from Amsterdam to New York (USA) from Delta Airlines in summer 2014, now flying three times a day on this route. KLM will also expand service in its Houston (USA) business market to nine frequencies a week.

Growth in Central and South America boosted by strategic cooperation
AIR FRANCE KLM recently announced having entered into far-reaching strategic cooperation with its Brazilian partner GOL. Based on commercial cooperation between Brazil and Europe, KLM can now offer even more destinations in Brazil. KLM’s own network will also be expanded this summer. For example, KLM’s scheduled service to Santiago de Chile (Chile), launched in winter, will continue throughout the summer. Additionally, the frequency of KLM’s service to Quito/Guayaquil (Ecuador) will be raised to a daily flight.

Joint network optimisation with partner Kenya Airways in Africa
KLM’s previously announced intention to expand cooperation with Kenya Airways with effect from 1 January 2014, will continue to take concrete shape in the schedules operated by both partners in summer 2014. The joint network has been optimised and further aligned. For example, Kenya Airways will be deploying its recently acquired Boeing 777-300 on the most important joint route between Nairobi (Kenya) and Amsterdam. This aircraft also boasts the latest on-board product. With effect from summer 2014, KLM will be increasing frequencies to Cape Town (South Africa), currently served directly from Amsterdam five times a week.

Stabilisation and optimisation of Middle East and Asian network
Despite fierce competition, KLM will succeed in maintaining its position in the Middle East in summer 2014. This will also be driven by the successful codeshare agreement between AIR FRANCE KLM and partner Etihad Airways. Supported by this cooperation, KLM is now in a better position to offer its passengers destinations within Oceania (incl. Australia).

KLM will also be making a number of adjustments within its Asian network to better meet market demand. For example, both Hong Kong (China) and Seoul (Korea) will be served on the basis of a different time schedule and KLM will be expanding its scheduled service – launched in summer 2013 – to Fukuoka (Japan) to four times a week during the peak season. KLM has also expanded a number of codeshare agreements with various partners, making it possible to offer even more destinations within Asia.

2014,summerschedule

</pp:boilerplate>

KLM
In the summer of 2013, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines plans capacity to grow by 3.3% on long-haul flights by using its fleet more efficiently by deploying newer aircraft, year-on-year. KLM plans capacity to grow in Europe by 6.5% as the result of using more seats and efficiency rather than the addition of new aircraft. KLM’s growth is not the result of more flight hours.

Once KLM phases out three of its MD-11s, they will be replaced by two Boeing 777-300s and one Airbus 330.
Clear results of Transform 2015 can be seen inside Europe. More seats per aircraft can be deployed in the Boeing 737s. KLM has also achieved greater efficiency by shortening turn-around times at Schiphol Airport.
KLM has chosen three new destinations for this summer: Fukuoka, Japan; Ålesund, Norway; and Manston, Kent in the United Kingdom. The flights to Teheran, Addis Ababa and Khartoum are being suspended due to disappointing commercial results.

Europe
The new destination of Manston offers travellers an attractive tourist destination as well as a hassle-free airport in the proximity of London. Ålesund has a fast-growing market, including the offshore industry. It is also an interesting tourist destination. Frequencies to Basel, Linköping, Lyon, Norwich, Prague, and Budapest will increase.

North America
Together with Delta Air Lines, partner in its transatlantic joint venture, KLM is strengthening its market position between North America and Europe. KLM will start flying larger aircraft to Calgary, replacing its MD-11 to Atlanta with the newer Airbus 330-300. Delta plans to increase its capacity to Amsterdam by more than 10%. In addition to flights each day to Atlanta and Detroit, customers can fly to New York JFK four times daily in the new schedule. Delta will fly to Atlanta three times a day and KLM one more time. KLM and Delta will each fly to New York twice a day. Only Delta will fly to Detroit.

What is more, during the summer of 2013, KLM will increase its frequencies to Los Angeles and Washington. From 13 May, seasonal operations to Dallas-Fort Worth will resume.

Central and South America
In the Caribbean region and South America, the Airbus 330-300 and Boeing 777 will also replace the MD-11. In the winter of 2012/13, KLM already started using these more fuel-efficient aircraft. The frequency to Rio de Janeiro will increase from four to five time a week and the growth to Panama, which started this winter, will continue with a daily flight through the summer. To absorb the summer peak business, KLM is adding a “circle flight” from Amsterdam to Curaçao and Bonaire.

Africa
This year, KLM introduced Lusaka (Zambia), Luanda (Angola) and Harare (Zimbabwe) to its destinations. Harare will be part of a circle flight between Amsterdam and Lusaka, Zambia.

The collaboration with Kenya Airways continues to be of great importance to KLM’s position in Africa. The twice-daily Kenya Airways/KLM service to Nairobi offers an ever-greater number of destinations in Kenya and surrounding countries in East Africa. KLM’s direct flights to Addis Ababa and Khartoum will stop. However, partner Kenya Airways will offer flights there via Nairobi.

Asia and the Middle East
On 3 April, KLM will initiate regular scheduled service to Fukuoka, Japan. This makes KLM the first airline to fly directly between Fukuoka and Europe. Fukuoka is KLM’s third Japanese destination after Tokyo and Osaka. KLM will increase its frequency to Tokyo from ten flights to eleven. With the start of the new route to Fukuoka, KLM will offer a total of 21 flights to Japan this summer. In so doing, KLM will rise to growing demand from Japan.

Teheran will be discontinued as a destination in the new schedule. In contrast, the number of flights to Almaty will increase this summer.

As part of KLM’s collaboration with Etihad Airways, there will be more flights to Abu Dhabi/Bahrain. From mid-May, Etihad will fly from its home base in Abu Dhabi to Schiphol under its own flag as well as that of KLM. Since last autumn, KLM has been offering five of Etihad’s destinations in Australia and Central Asia. It will add another thirteen in May.

The capacity on Asian routes will increase further with the help of new aircraft. B777-300s will operate more often on these routes.

New Interior in World Business Class
On 19 March, KLM will introduce its new cabin interior in World Business Class. KLM has brought in leading Dutch designer Hella Jongerius for the job. KLM will be changing all of WBC in the height of Dutch design, thereby combining Dutch roots with international allure. Besides revamping the interior design, Ms Jongerius will give an all-new look to the full-flat seat.

Fleet Development: CSR
As the new schedule becomes effective, KLM will extend its fleet with new and more fuel-efficient aircraft. In April, KLM will put an A330-300 into operation. A month later, a B737 will follow.

2013,summerschedule

Given the uncertain economic environment, the Air France-KLM Group’s increase in capacity in available seat-kilometres (ASK) for the summer 2012 season will be limited to +0.6% including +0.8% on long-haul and -0.2% on medium-haul, excluding the provincial bases. With the launch of the bases in Marseille, Toulouse and Nice, where Air France is significantly reducing its operating costs, the group’s medium-haul operations will post an increase of +3.0%, bringing the total increase in capacity to +1.4%.

</pp:boilerplate>

KLM service schedule at a glance
In light of the current difficult economic circumstances and high fuel costs, KLM's service capacity during the summer season, which commences on 25 March, will remain the same as last year, with hardly any expansion.
Within this carefully balanced capacity policy, KLM intends to consolidate its growth in Central and South America, two new destinations will be introduced in Africa (Luanda and Lusaka) and the total capacity deployed in North America and Asia will remain virtually the same. KLM’s strategic position in Greater China will be strengthened even further with the introduction of a non-stop service to Taipei and an increase in the number of flights to Hangzhou during the height of summer. Capacity on services to destinations in the Middle East will be reduced by 8 percent. The total capacity of the airline's service to destinations in Europe will also continue to remain the same, however the number of seats on flights to Southern Europe will be reduced, whilst strategic positions in North-western Europe will be strengthened.

KLM will add new, state-of-the-art and fuel-efficient aircraft to its short and long-haul fleet in order to replace the old, less efficient fleet.

Europe, focussing on North-western Europe

North-western EuropeKLM will expand its services to Denmark and Norway with additional daily flights from and to Aalborg, Billund, Stavanger and Sandefjord/Torp. In France, KLM is adding capacity from and to Toulouse and Bordeaux and in Germany it is also adding capacity from and to Bremen, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. The expansion that took place in the United Kingdom last summer will be continued and has been expanded to include a flight from and to Aberdeen. The three daily flights to Liverpool have been suspended, but the region will continue to be served by six daily flights from and to Manchester.

Southern Europe
In Spain, the number of flights from and to Barcelona and Madrid has been reduced. KLM is keeping the number of connections to Madrid at the required level by collaborating with Air Europe. In Italy, KLM is centring all flights to Milan at Linate airport, in collaboration with its joint venture partner Alitalia. KLM is also increasing the number of daily flights it operates to Venice from three to four.

Eastern Europe
In Eastern Europe, KLM is continuing to work on improving its product by collaborating closely with local partners. KLM will increase the number of daily flights from two to four between Amsterdam and Kiev, two of which will be operated by KLM.

Northern America, selective growth
Together with Delta Air Lines, KLM's partner in the transatlantic joint venture, KLM is strengthening its market position in the United States and Canada. Major investments are being made in the hubs of Delta Air Lines: in June, the new international terminal in Atlanta will come on stream and flights from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol to Atlanta will be operated four times per day. Together with Detroit (four times per day), Minneapolis (three times per day) and New York JFK (three times per day), the most important Delta Air Lines hubs will be served fourteen times per day, thereby enabling passengers to access Delta Air Lines' extensive network of services to domestic destinations in the USA.

Dallas-Fort Worth is returning to the network this summer season with five flights per week in an Airbus A330-200. Flights to Miami will be offered by Delta Air Lines, via Atlanta. Washington Dulles will welcome the new Airbus A330-300. At Houston, the number of flights will be reduced from thirteen to seven flights per week and the service to Los Angeles will be expanded with three flights to ten flights per week during the high season (June to August inclusive).

Flights to Toronto will be offered twice a day during the summer, flights will be offered to Vancouver in a Boeing 777-200 instead of an MD-11 and Calgary will be upgraded to become a daily service, serving these destinations. Together with partner Westjet, a large number of secondary Canadian destinations will also be offered from here.

Central and South America, continuation of the winter schedule

Flights to destinations in the Dutch Caribbean continue to be extremely popular. The number of flights operated during the past winter season will be carried forward and will total 14 flights per week.

Flights will be operated to Havana (Cuba) three times per week as a direct service. Flights will also be offered to Punta Cana (Dominican Republic) by Air France via Paris.

The daily service to Panama that was introduced last winter will be continued. What is more, connections to destinations in Central America in collaboration with partner Copa Airlines will be further improved as connection times are reduced.

South America continues to form an important growth market for KLM. The increased capacity that was deployed last winter will continue to be implemented during the coming summer season.

Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and Buenos Aires (Argentina) were added to the network as new destinations last winter. Both metropolises are served with direct flights three times per week and capacity on services to Buenos Aires has been increased by deploying a Boeing 777-300. In collaboration with partners Gol and Aerolineas Argentinas, a large number of secondary destinations will be offered in South America via São Paulo (Brazil), Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires.

The number of flights to Quito/Guayaquil (Ecuador) has been increased from three to four per week compared with last winter. A Boeing 747-400 will be deployed on services to Paramaribo (Suriname). The number of services will total four per week during the high season (July and August) and three per week outside of the high season.

Africa, new destinations
The oil destination of Luanda (Angola) will be added to the KLM network as of 27 March. Flights will run to this destination on Tuesdays and Fridays on a night/night schedule, so as to complement the flight schedule operated by Air France.
What is more, Lusaka (Zambia) will be added to the network with three weekly flights starting from 15 May. Zambia has witnessed considerable economic growth as a result of the mining industry. In terms of tourism, Zambia also offers a range of different options, primarily concentrated in the area around the city of Livingstone, near the Victoria Falls.

The number of flights to Entebbe (Uganda) and Kigali (Rwanda) has been increased to six per week. The new Airbus A330-300 will be deployed in the West-African destinations of Lagos (Nigeria) and Accra (Ghana).

KLM will serve Cairo (Egypt) with flights on a Boeing 777-200 three times per week this summer. KLM intends to resume flights to Tripoli (Libya) with effect from May 2012.

Middle East, some services withdrawn and all services enhanced
KLM will improve its Middle East product by offering a direct service from and to Doha (Qatar) five times per week, with an onward connection to Muscat (Oman). The number of flights to Dammam (Saudi Arabia) has also been increased from five per week to a daily flight and will be operated in combination with Kuwait. Abu Dhabi (UAE) and Bahrein will be served five times per week. A limousine service will be available between Bahrein and Dammam, so that both destinations are served to an optimal extent.
The number of seats on the midday flight to Dubai (VAE) has been increased. The evening flight to Dubai will be suspended during the summer.

KLM will continue to operate six flights a week to Teheran (Iran).

Asia, consolidating a strong position
KLM continues to have a strong presence in the Greater China Region. As well as continuing to offer flights to the destinations that were introduced over the last two years (Chengdu, Hangzhou and Xiamen), a direct and daily service will also be introduced to Taipei (Taiwan), with an onward connection to Manila. During the high season (June to September inclusive), Hangzhou will be served four times per week. In collaboration with KLM, partner China Southern Airlines is increasing the number of flights it runs between Guangzhou and Amsterdam from three per week to a daily product.

Due to the high level of recovery of demand, the capacity in Japan is once again back at the level it was prior to the earthquake and tsunami at the beginning of 2011. This means that ten flights run to Tokyo Narita every week and one flight to Osaka every day.

In South-East Asia, a daily, non-stop service will operate to Bangkok (Thailand).
