Also in the interests of our KLM passengers, KLM takes additional measures. The aim is to minimize discomfort at Schiphol, and to allow KLM flights to depart on time. In addition to continuously monitoring departure and transition processes, KLM will also use additional staff to guide passengers at the airport. KLM will also inform travellers individually, for example, if something changes in flight schedules. In addition, KLM has prepared the following tips that can help the traveller to make the departure and transition process as quickly as possible:

1. Provide contact information in My Trip

KLM recommends all passengers to add their contact info to their booking details. In 'My Trip' on KLM.com, travellers can check, enter or change their phone number and e-mail address. This way, should something change in their journey, KLM can get in touch sooner.

2. Check in online

In addition, KLM strongly recommends checking in online. This can be done in the KLM app and on the website, starting 30 hours before departure. For flights to and from the United States, check-in is open from 24 hours before departure. Online check-in saves time at the airport. Travellers then do not have to go to the check-in desk, but can go straight to baggage drop-off. Or, when travelling with hand luggage only, go straight to the gate. Families with children and groups are of course still welcome at the staffed check-in desks.

3. Read the baggage rules

Because baggage rules are strictly applied at Schiphol, passengers are advised to double-check the amount allowed for their journey according to their ticket conditions. This is stated in their booking details and on KLM.com. Hand luggage that is too big or too heavy must be checked in. Liquids may be carried in hand luggage, if brought in quantities of up to 100 ml and a total of 1 litre packed in a sealable plastic bag. KLM also recommends reading the list of prohibited articles on KLM.com.

4. Be at the airport well in time

Passengers departing from Amsterdam to destinations in Europe are advised to be at Schiphol Airport at least 2 hours before departure. Prior to departure of intercontinental flights, 3 hours are recommended.Departure halls 1 and 2 open every day at 4.30 AM.Schiphol has several departure halls, so KLM recommends checking in advance where the journey begins:

* Between July 6 and August 20 2017 check-in for intercontinental flights to the Caribbean, Paramaribo, Cape Town and Johannesburg may sometimes be in Departure hall 1. The information screens at the airport always show the correct check-in location.

5. Go to the gate at boarding time

The information screens at Schiphol airport show when boarding starts. It is important to be at the gate at the time indicated. For all KLM flights, the gate will close 15 minutes before departure. Anyone arriving at the gate after closing time will not be able to board anymore.Transferring passengers at Schiphol are advised to first go through customs and security checks. After that, one can still shop at the airport if boarding for the connecting flight has not yet started.

6. Maximum occupancy

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is responsible for staffing the security filters. KLM and Schiphol have agreed that all filters will be staffed to a maximum by deploying extra personnel. Plans are also underway to ensure optimum deployment of K-MAR border police at passport control.

SkyPriority

For SkyPriority customers at Schiphol the usual benefits of their membership level or travel class apply. KLM is aware of the increased busyness and does everything possible to minimize the inconvenience caused by this. Unfortunately, KLM cannot entirely prevent queues forming in SkyPriority rows and areas. Therefore, these travellers are also advised to be at the airport at least 2 hours (flights within Europe) or 3 hours (intercontinental flights) before departure.

Customer care

KLM customer care staff at all channels are prepared for receiving more questions and requests. They will do their utmost to serve and help travellers to experience a comfortable journey. Naturally, in case of delays, passengers will be rebooked and/or compensated according to KLM rules.With these additional measures, staff at KLM and its partner airlines are ready to take care of all customers.

Starting this summer season:

• By popular demand, KLM is increasing the number of flights to London City Airport from 12 to a maximum of 28 each week this summer.
• Malaga is KLM’s sixth non-stop destination in Spain. The other five are Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, and Alicante.
• Cagliari and Catania are the ninth and tenth non-stop destinations in Italy. The other eight are Rome, Florence, Milan Linate, Milan Malpensa, Turin, Venice, Genoa, and Bologna.
• All Boeing aircraft operating on long-haul routes will be furnished with full-flat seats. The World Business Class cabins in all Airbus A330 aircraft are also scheduled for refit. Travellers can expect to see the new World Business Class completed in the course of 2018.
• And, every three months until October 2018, our World Business Class passengers can enjoy new dishes created by leading Dutch chef Jonnie Boer.
• World Business Class passengers can now choose from three different breakfasts – savoury, sweet, or delicious yogurt with granola.

Along with Kuwait, Dammam (Saudi Arabia) will also be served directly (until now, served in combination with one another). Muscat (Oman) will be served after a short stopover in Dammam. These adjustments will provide passengers with better connections to Schiphol.

KLM will continue to serve Abu Dhabi directly.

Passengers with reservations for flights after 26 March 2017 will be rebooked on the most appropriate alternative flight.

KLM serves six destinations in the Gulf States from Schiphol: Dubai and Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates), Muscat (Oman), Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Manama (Bahrain) and Kuwait City (Kuwait). Flights are also offered via Paris to Dubai (United Arab Emirates) and Riyadh (Saudi Arabia).

Starting the 27^th May 2014 KLM Cityhopper will operate four weekly flights between Amsterdam and Zagreb on Tuesday, Thursday and at the weekend, using a Fokker 70 aircraft seating 74 passengers in Business and Economy Class.

Bilbao
Bilbao, the third KLM destination in Spain, located in the northern part, is one of most populous metropolitan areas in Northern Spain. The city is widely acknowledged for its scrumptious cuisine and architectural masterpieces. The famed Bilbao Guggenheim Museum is hailed as one the most astonishing architectural buildings of the 20^th century. The museum was not just an artistic and cultural amenity, but symbolized the city and society’s wish to change.

KLM will operate this new service on a daily basis except for Tuesday and Thursday. The flight will depart from Amsterdam at 14:50hrs (KL1687) arriving at 17:00hrs on Bilbao airport. The return flight (KL1688) will leave at 17:35hrs to arrive in Amsterdam again at 19:45hrs. The new service will start on 26 May 2014 until 25 October 2014.

Zagreb
Zagreb is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Croatia. It has an extensive history dating back to Roman times. If it’s a change of scenery you desire, the city offers a modern edge too, located in the lower part of the city, with striking buildings and parks, reflecting the city’s standing in the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

KLM will operate flights on Tuesdays, Thursdays and at the weekend. The outbound flight will depart from Amsterdam at 14:30 hours (KL1943), arriving at 16:20 hours at Zagreb International Airport. The return flight (KL1944) will leave at 16:55 hours, arriving in Amsterdam again at 19:05 hours. The new service will start on 27 May 2014 and run until 25 October 2014.

At Amsterdam Schiphol Airport passengers can easily transfer to over 160 destinations.

The summer schedule continues the optimized connectivity that was successfully introduced in the current winter season, shortening total travel time for the customers. Flight frequency to certain stations will be increased in summer to improve connectivity. Specifically, operations to Munich, Stuttgart, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Edinburgh will increase to five times per day. During summer, the services to Liverpool and Toulouse will be increased from three to four frequencies per day.

In its St Petersburg service, KLM will increase to daily operation from the start of summer 2010. Together with partner airline Rossiya, KLM will then offer twelve weekly flights. KLM’s close cooperation with Alitalia will continue to improve the product for its customers between the Netherlands and Italy. Alitalia recently started five weekly flights between Amsterdam and Turin, which will continue into the summer season.

Growth in promising Asian destinations

KLM aims to reinforce its position in the fast-growing Chinese market. It will therefore continue to serve the Amsterdam-Beijing route 14 times weekly together with its strategic partner airline China Southern. KLM will schedule twelve weekly flights to Shanghai, which is one additional flight compared to the end of this winter. Starting from June, services to Chengdu will be increased to four weekly. The seven weekly flights to Hong Kong will be maintained. Besides these developments, further opportunities in China are explored on a continuous basis and are expected to be announced shortly.

The start-up of the tail-end operation from Singapore to Denpasar, a popular destination for KLM passengers, will be continued, operating four weekly flights during summer season. In Tokyo, the uniform Boeing 747 product introduced in the current winter season will be continued in the summer season, while capacity to Seoul will be increased from five to six weekly flights in Boeing 747 combined passenger and freight aircraft.

Improving position through frequency – and type changes to the Middle East

Compared to last summer, the flight frequency to Teheran will increase by one to six weekly flights. On its service to Dubai, KLM will make its product for business travellers more attractive by increasing frequency to 13 weekly flights: six weekly in Airbus 330-200 aircraft and seven weekly in Boeing 747 combined passenger and freight aircraft.

Further strengthening the North Atlantic position

On North Atlantic routes, KLM will further strengthen her position by a light growth of approximately 1%. The successful transatlantic joint venture with Northwest Airlines has been migrated into a new three-party joint venture with AIR FRANCE, KLM and Delta Air Lines. As a result, the capacity will be increased to Atlanta and New York (JFK), which are major hubs for Delta Air Lines. Both Atlanta and New York will be served three times daily. The services to the former hubs of Northwest Airlines will remain on the same frequency as last summer, meaning four flights a day to Detroit, three a day to Minneapolis and a daily service to Memphis. Another result of KLM’s cooperation with Delta Air Lines is that both networks have been further connected with fully reciprocal code shares, further increasing the number of destinations offered in their joint networks.

San Francisco will be served in a combination of Boeing 777-200/300 aircraft, KLM’s newest aircraft. The service to Seattle will be extended by Delta Air Lines in the peak of the summer through an additional afternoon departure three times per week, creating a total of ten services per week. The capacity to Boston will be increased to a twice-daily service with a mixture of Airbus 330-300 and Boeing 767-300 aircraft. The product to Portland will grow from six times per week to a daily service.

Reinforcing market position in Africa and Central and South America

KLM aims to reinforce its position in Africa by maintaining flight frequency to a number of destinations, including Cairo, Lagos, Accra, Cape Town and Johannesburg. To accommodate additional demand during the peak period in June through August, one flight will be added to the Cairo service, increasing operations to seven weekly flights. In the same period, a flight will be added to the Entebbe service, increasing it to five weekly flights during the summer. The operation to Dar Es Salam will be increased to seven weekly flights, starting in June and continuing for the rest of the summer. During this summer, KLM will continue its twice-daily service to Nairobi in cooperation with its partner Kenya Airways; with that partner, it offers multiple connections to destinations in Eastern Africa.

Due to specific business demand on Aruba, KLM will also operate two weekly flights to this popular destination during the summer season. The flights will be operated in addition to the services operated by Martinair. The flight between Sint Maarten and Bonaire which was introduced last year will operate throughout the complete summer season. On Paramaribo, KLM will increase capacity and operate five flights every week as of the start of the season, while an extra weekly flight is planned in the peak season to accommodate additional traffic.

During the summer, KLM will offer five weekly flights to Panama, with onward connections to numerous destinations in Latin America with its code-share partner Copa Airlines. The code-share cooperation between KLM and Copa has recently been expanded with the addition of the KLM code on Copa flights to San Jose in Costa Rica and San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa in Honduras.

The Sao Paulo operation will be increased to a daily service from six weekly flights during the current winter season. At the same time, code-share cooperation has started with Brazilian airline Gol Transportes Aereos, increasing the number of South American destinations offered to KLM’s customers.

Fleet renewal

KLM continues to renew its fleet. By the start of summer 2010, KLM will have finalized the phaseout of the Fokker 50 from its regional fleet. At the end of the coming summer season, KLM will have introduced an additional ten new Embraer 190 aircraft compared to the end of previous summer season. The present generation of Boeing 737 aircraft will continue to be phased out from the medium-haul fleet and the next generation of Boeing 737 aircraft will be introduced.
