The panel members were given a tour and had the opportunity to experience a flight simulation themselves. By sharing its knowledge of simulation training, KLM aims to support the advancement of the healthcare sector while also contributing to ensuring a sufficient number of well-trained healthcare professionals in the Netherlands.

The healthcare sector is in need of many new professionals. Currently, training takes place entirely in practice. The use of simulation can make the education of healthcare professionals more effective and efficient. DUTCH is a program supported by the National Growth Fund that focuses on innovating the way healthcare professionals are trained. It is a collaboration between hospitals, educational institutions, and the business community, including Erasmus MC and the Ministry of Defence.

At KLM, simulator training has been an essential part of training programs for many years. Now, KLM is applying its knowledge and experience in this area to help the medical sector develop simulation environments for healthcare professionals.

The program is supported by an expert panel with representatives from various sectors such as petrochemicals, maritime, software, nuclear industry, and aviation: sectors where safety and regulation on one hand, and innovation and development on the other, are key priorities.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>

It is incredibly valuable that we can now use this knowledge and experience to give the healthcare sector, where simulation is still emerging, a flying start with this training method. I’m proud that KLM can contribute to the advancement of the healthcare sector, which is of great societal importance.</pp:quotetext>

On April 7, all partners symbolically launched the construction of Transavia's new workshop. The construction of the KLM section will follow later this year. Never before has aircraft maintenance for KLM and Transavia taken place under one roof.

First gas-free building at Schiphol-East
Hangar 10, built in the 1960s, is approximately 14,500m2 in size and no longer met current standards. The renovated hangar will have an open layout with plenty of daylight and will be used for the maintenance of Transavia aircraft and the Engineering & Maintenance Tech Center of KLM. In addition to the renovation of the hangar, two new office buildings for Transavia and KLM will also be constructed. This will bring the total floor area to approximately 27,000m2.

This will be KLM Group's first gas-free hangar at Schiphol East. The upgrade of Hangar 10 is part of the High Impact Projects of KLM Real Estate & Facility Contracting. <pp:quotetext>The start of the construction of the KLM E&M Tech Center and the Transavia Greenbase is an important milestone. This redevelopment symbolizes our joint commitment to innovation and efficiency in the aviation industry. Today, we have literally and figuratively laid the new foundation for an energy-efficient hangar and a modern working environment for colleagues working on the maintenance of the new Airbus aircraft for KLM and Transavia. Fleet renewal does not stop with the purchase of new aircraft. It also requires the renewal of our hangars and retraining for the colleagues working here. We are working constructively with the construction consortium Visser Smit Bouw and Croon Wolters Dros and looking forward to good progress in delivering this hangar in the course of 2026.</pp:quotetext>

</pp:summary>

The reason for the sale is that KLM wishes to focus on its core business. The activities of the KLM Jet Center differ from KLM’s core business in that they take place within a very specific handling market for business and private jets, operating out of Schiphol-Oost and Rotterdam. KLM arrived at this decision by way of careful investigation and consultation, concluding that the Swiss company Jet Aviation was best suited to take over the KLM Jet Center.

KLM has been handling flights of this kind out of the Schiphol-Oost since 1986. A similar centre was opened in Rotterdam in 2004. The sale of activities and fixed assets of the KLM Jet Center also implies a transfer of undertaking, which means all staff will take service with Jet Aviation Netherlands B.V. as of today. Staff were informed of this at an earlier stage, and involved in the process. KLM reached an agreement with trade unions on the transfer of labour terms and conditions that will be upheld by the new employer.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>
