The bottles bear labels depicting paintings from Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum. Reflecting the theme of Spring, the five paintings were produced by well-known Dutch painters of the Golden Age.

</pp:summary>

The paintings featured on the labels of these exceptional bottles of wine include The Little Street (Het Straatje) by Johannes Vermeer and Girl in a Large Hat (Meisje met een Brede Hoed) by Caesar Boëtius van Everdingen. Each wine is associated with a painting that reflects the flavour of the wine. For instance, Girl in a Large Hat represents a fresh Esterházy Grüner Veltliner wine.

The five Spring wines were selected by KLM’s own Wine Panel for World Business Class. The panel tests the wine’s quality, paying special attention to the change in taste that occurs at high altitude.

KLM enjoys bringing its passengers in touch with the richness of the Dutch culture through its products and services. The partnership between the Activin Wine Group and the Rijksmuseum contributes towards this aim.

KLM and TUI Netherlands intensify cooperation extensively

<pp:caseid>189186</pp:caseid><pp:summary>
Amstelveen, 17 May 2017 – KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and TUI Netherlands have announced that they will intensify their cooperation extensively. The two organisations will jointly work on serving various destinations on a bigger scale. This means the two organisations will begin cooperating on various routes and substantially expand their combined capacity on routes they already serve together.

</pp:summary>

KLM is delighted with the intensified cooperation. “We want to consolidate our leading position in both the business and leisure market, and expand wherever possible,” said Harm Kreulen, director of KLM Netherlands. “The market for package trips is one segment where there are plenty of opportunities, particularly in view of the many new destinations KLM has added to its network in recent years. Intensified cooperation with a well-established, professional, global operator like TUI is a logical step. Together, we are able to offer the leisure market a wide-ranging and sharply-priced product.”

Arjan Kers, general manager of TUI Netherlands: “We strongly believe in this intensification of cooperation between KLM and TUI. By combining our strengths, we will generate further growth, with new destinations and more passenger capacity. This means we can offer our travellers a more varied range of holiday options.”

From Mombasa and Mauritius to all sorts of European cities

The intensified cooperation will see TUI restoring Kenya to its range of destinations. From November, TUI will offer capacity on three weekly KLM flights to Mombasa, with an intermediate stop in Nairobi. In addition, TUI will offer a substantial number of seats on all nonstop flights that KLM will begin operating to Mauritius in November. KLM will operate three weekly 787 Dreamliner flights to Mauritius, offering TUI a direct flight to this island paradise, where the organisation has its own chain of RIU Hotels.

Earlier this year, KLM began operating flights to Cartagena (Colombia) and, in the winter, KLM also began serving San José in Costa Rica, where TUI will begin operating tours next winter, under the Kras brand. KLM and TUI will also jointly serve various European cities, with KLM taking part in TUI’s “City of the Month” campaign, which highlights a specific city trip within Europe every month.

St Maarten

TUI will suspend flights to St Maarten this winter, but will continue to offer the Dutch market package trips to this island in cooperation with KLM.

mauritius,san jose,cartagena,new destinations,tui,klm,netherlands,Cooperation

#Orangepride: KLM’s unique orange aircraft to promote the Netherlands

<pp:caseid>132590</pp:caseid><pp:summary>
Today, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines introduced its unique orange-coloured Boeing 777-300. The well-known KLM Blue is being combined with orange highlights. The transition between the two colours features aspects of the Dutch flag. The combination emphasises KLM’s Dutch roots and pride in the national colour of the Netherlands.

</pp:summary>

The introduction of the special aircraft was partly prompted by a social media post KLM published on King’s Day 2015. At the time, KLM’s followers were presented with a picture of an orange aircraft, along with the question: “Should we colour orange next year on King’s Day? #OrangeExperience”. 30,000 likes and 2,500 positive responses later, KLM rolls out its only orange aircraft today.

KLM will deploy the orange Boeing 777 on routine flights within the network and, whenever possible, during events that offer opportunities to promote the Netherlands. The aircraft will debut this summer and will be in operation on the Rio de Janeiro-Amsterdam route during the Olympic Games. On 22 August, KLM will use its orange Boeing to operate the “Medal Flight” that brings the Dutch Olympic heroes home.

Painting procedure
335 litres of paint were used to spray the aircraft orange fading into KLM’s distinctive blue. Applying the colours in multiple, thin layers, requires less paint and the sustainable, chromate-free paint can be easily washed off. The colours of the Dutch flag have been incorporated in the transition between orange and blue, completing the aircraft’s Dutch image. It took a team of 35 people four days to spray on the orange livery.

More about the KLM Boeing 777-300
The KLM version of the Boeing 777-300 has a completely revamped interior, with full-flat seats in World Business Class and more legroom in Economy Class, ensuring greater comfort for passengers. In addition, the inflight entertainment system has been fully renewed and adapted throughout the cabin. By the end of this year, KLM will have replaced more than 80% of its intercontinental aircraft cabin interiors.
