]]></pp:summary><description><![CDATA[<p>Using the Facebook camera on their smartphone, passengers waiting at the airport have easy access to this new addition to KLM&rsquo;s AR services on social media. With the camera on the back, passengers can explore various travel landscapes, following animated characters dancing to music. With the camera on the front, passengers can apply all sorts of entertaining face filters, allowing them to interact with images, music and sound effects activated by their own movements.</p>

<p><strong>KLM at the forefront&nbsp;of AR applications</strong></p>

<p>This AR technology presents a world of opportunity that KLM is putting to good use for its passengers. Having recently launched the <a href="https://news.klm.com/klms-augmented-reality-hand-baggage-check-now-available-in-messenger/">AR hand baggage check</a> in the KLM app and in KLM Messenger, &ldquo;Tune into Your Travel&rdquo; is the latest addition to KLM&rsquo;s range of AR services.</p>

]]></pp:summary><description><![CDATA[<p>From now on, the service is widely available for iPhone users (6s or above) in KLM&rsquo;s Messenger. KLM&rsquo;s AR hand baggage check uses a transparent, virtual KLM suitcase that is placed in reality on an actual suitcase to indicate whether the dimensions are appropriate for overhead compartments. This makes it easy for passengers&nbsp;to check, in the comfort of their home, whether their hand baggage is of the correct size. Earlier this month, the service was launched in the KLM App (iOS).</p>

<p><strong>AR technology&nbsp;next step on Messenger</strong></p>

<p>Earlier this year, Messenger announced that it would make AR technology available in closed beta on its platform. KLM is now one of the few companies worldwide to build an experience using AR in Messenger. KLM will continue to develop and improve the service in the future, so that it grows in line with the latest AR technology available.</p><p>To try the new experience, go to KLM on Messenger. ]]></pp:summary><description><![CDATA[<p><span>WeChat has over 963 million monthly active users of which 600 million have activated WeChat Pay. This is a payment feature integrated into the WeChat app, which makes it possible for users to complete payment quickly with smartphones without leaving the platform.&nbsp;WeChat Pay is accepted pretty much everywhere you go within China and over 40% of all mobile transactions is being executed this way. The service is available for all users that have a Chinese bank account.</span></p>

<p><span>Paying for a KLM ticket has become simple: once a passenger booked a ticket on KLM.com via desktop, and chooses WeChat as the preferred payment option, a QR code appears. Users scan this code which refers them to WeChat Pay, the money is amortized and a successful payment is done.</span> <span>If a customer booked a ticket on mobile or via the WeChat app, and chooses WeChat as the preferred payment option, the customer is automatically referred to WeChat Pay and able to pay for the ticket easily. Users need to bind their bankcard only once to use WeChat Pay.</span></p>

<p><strong>KLM on WeChat</strong><br />
KLM opened a WeChat account in 2014 offering her Chinese passengers service, brand content and commercial offers via the platform. Since May 2017, KLM customers have the choice to receive their booking confirmation, check-in notification, boarding pass and flight status updates via WeChat. So far nearly 25% of all Chinese KLM customers booking online, receive their flight info via WeChat. KLM gets over 8000 servicing questions a week, mainly in Simplified Chinese.</p>

The panel of judges lauded KLM&rsquo;s &ldquo;courageous approach to change and innovation&rdquo;.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Last week, KLM also won several other prestigious awards, including a Customer Centric DNA Award and two Bronze Lamp Awards at the 50<sup>th</sup> edition of the ADCN Awards. The cherry on top came with KLM&rsquo;s nomination for a Webby Award, which are the Oscars of the internet. Winners will be announced on 25 April 2017, with the awards ceremony to be held in New York on 15 May 2017.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Customer Centric DNA Awards</strong></p>

<p>On 13 April 2017, at a Customer Centric DNA Awards ceremony in Utrecht, KLM was acknowledged as the most customer-centric organisation in the Public Transport category.</p>

<p>The CCDNA Awards offer insight into the most customer-centric organisations in the Netherlands. The winners of the 2017 CCDNA awards are selected by way of a benchmark study, which relies on the evaluations of consumers themselves, rather than the assessment of a panel of experts.</p>

<p><strong>ADCN Awards</strong></p>

<p>Also on 13 April 2017, KLM won two ADCN Awards (for advertising, design and creativity in the Netherlands) at a ceremony held in the Carr&eacute; Theatre in Amsterdam.
