With the introduction of these trucks, KCS contributes to KLM's objective of achieving emission-free ground handling by 2030.</strong></p>]]></pp:summary><description><![CDATA[<p><strong>Quieter</strong><br>The trucks run entirely on electricity, and the engine that drives the cooling system is also electric. An additional advantage: the electric catering trucks are significantly quieter than the current trucks. This is pleasant for both the KCS drivers and other employees on the platform.</p><p><strong>Intensive testing</strong><br>KCS has asked two suppliers of airport equipment, DOLL® and Mallaghan, to each develop an electric catering truck, and car company Volvo built the chassis. In the coming period, KCS will extensively test these two prototypes. The performance of the trucks, the impact on the catering process and user-friendliness will be evaluated. The insights gained during this testing period will help to further optimise the trucks and contribute to efficient integration into daily operations.</p>]]></description><pp:quotes><pp:quote>

]]></pp:boilerplate><description><![CDATA[<p><span><span><span><span>At the end of last week, KLM President & CEO Pieter Elbers officially activated the new robot for the production of </span>ICA M-class (Economy Class)<span>&nbsp;meals at KLM Catering Services (KCS). KCS is the only company in the world to take such a robot into operation.</span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span><span><span><span><span>The new robot system will reduce handling costs and make it easier to effect meal tray adjustments. This will serve to reduce production costs while increasing flexibility and customer-centricity, making it easy to serve a wider array of products on different types of trays. It will also be possible to cater efficiently to diverse special requests. The rate of production will also double in comparison to the previous system, namely 30,000 pieces.</span></span></span></span></span></p>]]></description><pp:quotes><pp:quote>

As a result, from Wednesday evening at 6:00 pm to Friday morning at 7:00 am, all European flights departing from and to Schiphol will have minimum catering on board.&nbsp;This means that customers will receive a different catering product than they are used to from us.</p><p>We regret this situation and will do our utmost to make our customers' journeys as pleasant as possible.</p>]]></description><category><![CDATA[statement,statements,KCS,werkonderbreking,catering,strike,Workplace,conduct]]></category>
