KLM Royal Dutch Airlines is using Augmented Reality (AR) for this new service.

]]>From now on, the service is widely available for iPhone users (6s or above) in KLM’s Messenger. KLM’s AR hand baggage check uses a transparent, virtual KLM suitcase that is placed in reality on an actual suitcase to indicate whether the dimensions are appropriate for overhead compartments. This makes it easy for passengers to check, in the comfort of their home, whether their hand baggage is of the correct size. Earlier this month, the service was launched in the KLM App (iOS).

AR technology next step on Messenger

Earlier this year, Messenger announced that it would make AR technology available in closed beta on its platform. KLM is now one of the few companies worldwide to build an experience using AR in Messenger. KLM will continue to develop and improve the service in the future, so that it grows in line with the latest AR technology available.

To try the new experience, go to KLM on Messenger. You can find the AR hand baggage check in the menu under Plan & Book.

]]>Within the free iPhone app users can choose from one of the seven fun themes, and select their best pictures and videos taken during their journey. KLM Passport then turns these experiences into a movie that can be shared directly via Facebook or saved on the iPhone's camera roll to be shared elsewhere.

]]>The SkyTeam iPhone App contains a variety of highly useful features for today’s traveler, including worldwide airline flight schedules, flight status, weather information with seven-day forecasts, notifications to users of updates and changes, an airport locator and important contact phone numbers. The eSkyGuide also provides the ability to look up flight schedules in Flight Mode when internet access is disabled.
