<pp:quotetext>Today, prior to the shareholder meeting in Paris, the Air France-KLM Board announced the name of Air France-KLM’s new temporary leader.

The interim appointment of Anne-Marie Couderc as the new non-executive board chairperson for Air France-KLM, and the establishment of a three-person management committee – of which I am a member together with Franck Terner and Frederic Gagey – will give our organisation order and stability. This is extremely important for our customers and staff.

I look forward to working with Anne-Marie Couderc. I would like also to thank Jean-Marc Janaillac for our collaboration over the past two years and congratulate him on a number of important strategic steps that he took for the Air France KLM Group.

Through this new committee, I will continue to work for the Air France-KLM Group, as well as for the further successful implementation of our KLM strategy, just as Franck Terner will continue to do this for Air France.

The temporary implementation gives the Air France-KLM Board time to work on a permanent solution and configuration for the Group.

It is important that, throughout the group, we restore the good spirit, cohesion, and stability that we had in the early days of our partnership. This was demonstrably successful both for Air France and KLM.</pp:quotetext>

Looking back on the past year, KLM saw the first results of its strategy to cut costs on one hand and pursue investment on the other. The annual results revealed a positive trend. Also KLM’s EBITDA has increased from EUR 731 million to EUR 911 million. Net debt was reduced and equity improved. In the first quarter of 2016, capacity was increased by 3.9% and KLM saw passenger traffic increase by 10%.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>

In the past, the inflight entertainment system was only turned on once the aircraft was airborne, and turned off before landing.

From today until the end of November, the inflight entertainment system will be adjusted aboard KLM’s intercontinental fleet. Apart from extended availability, the navigation of the system has also been simplified by making more use of visual navigation cues, instead text.

During their flight, passengers can choose from 1,000 hours of programming, available in up to 12 languages. In additional to the audio-visual programme, KLM also offers passengers its Holland Herald inflight magazine and various newspapers.

Prior to their flight, passengers can already browse the inflight programme on KLM’s website and via the KLM Movies & More app, which is available for Apple and Android smartphones. Soon the app will be available for iPad.

viewing,time,on,board,more

In partnership with Panasonic Avionics, the two airlines are launching a joint in-flight connectivity programme on board their long-haul flights, with trials early 2013.

This will enable customers to stay connected with the world through text messages or emails as well as internet connection and ultimately through live broadcasts of TV programmes. Thanks to this new technology, Air France and KLM will offer passengers access to a broad scope of data communications during the flight. On the specially designed in-flight website, a broad range of services will be offered for free, like latest news, TV channels relevant airline and destination information and a unique offer of online magazines.

The trial phase will be conducted over the year 2013 on two Boeing 777-300s, operated by each airline. During this period, travellers will be able to hook up to the internet via their Wi-Fi enabled smartphone, laptop or tablet PC at a fixed rate, as well as use their mobile phone for sms or e-mail, whatever their travel class. We will ask our customers to provide feedback, along with their expectations and suggestions on improving these new services to be used as input for further future deployment.

<pp:quotes><pp:quote>

Consequently, the setting-up of a full-dedicated Air France-KLM holding, which was to be implemented at the beginning of 2012, has been put off to 2013.

In these circumstances, Pierre-Henri Gourgeon has resigned from his duties as Chief Executive Officer of Air France and Air France-KLM. The Board of Directors has paid tribute to the action that he took with courage and to the numerous measures efficiently implemented within difficult conditions since he took up his duties on January 1, 2009.

In order to address the situation, the principle of sole leadership is essential, both within Air France and the Air France-KLM group.

Therefore, the Appointment Committee of Air France-KLM has put forward to the Board of Directors of Air France-KLM, which approved it, the candidacy of Alexandre de Juniac to the duties of Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Air France; this appointment will be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors of Air France and will become effective after the opinion of the ethics committee (Commission de déontologie) provided by the law of January 29, 1993.

Alexandre de Juniac, surrounded by an experienced and younger team including Alain Bassil, Frédéric Gagey, Bruno Matheu and Florence Parly, will submit to the boards of directors of Air France and of Air France-KLM the measures aiming at improving the performance of Air France, and will be responsible for following-up such measures over time.

During the period prior to the setting-up of the Air France-KLM fully dedicated holding, Jean-Cyril Spinetta and Leo Van Wijk, who presided the setting up of the Air France-KLM group, will be in charge of its strategic coordination. Jean-Cyril Spinetta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Air France-KLM group, has been appointed as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Air France-KLM group. He has suggested to the Board of Directors, who has accepted it, that Leo Van Wijk be appointed as Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Air France-KLM group. Philippe Calavia will continue to be in charge of the financial management of the Air France-KLM group.

board,directors,conduct
