KLM and Air France will jointly devote special attention to Africa this summer. In addition to Luanda, KLM will also begin operating flights to the Zambian capital Lusaka in May. With the launch of services to Luanda, KLM consolidates its position in Africa. The KLM and Air France hubs now offer even more connections to Luanda, with four weekly services from Paris and Amsterdam to the Angolan capital.

Together with our partner Kenya Airways, we offer 89 flights a week between Europe and Africa, offering travellers a network that is as seamless as possible,” says Pieter Bootsma, executive vice president of Marketing, Revenue Management & Netwerk.

Luanda will be served twice weekly with an Airbus A330-200 that can accommodate 243 passengers; 30 in World Business Class, 178 in Economy Class, and 35 in Economy Comfort.

From 27 March 2012, flight KL581 will depart from Schiphol on Tuesdays and Fridays at 21.20 hrs, arriving in Luanda at 05.00 hrs the next day. The return flight, KL582, departs from Luanda on Wednesdays and Sundays at 19.00 hrs, arriving in Amsterdam at 04.45 hrs the next day.

Kenya Airways serves 45 African destinations in 36 countries, including Lagos (Nigeria), Accra (Ghana), Johannesburg (South Africa), Luanda (Angola), Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Lusaka (Zambia), Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of Congo) and Cairo (Egypt).

Twice-weekly service will be offered to Luanda using Boeing 777-200 equipment. This aircraft type offers seats for 318 passengers; 35 in World Business Class and 283 in Economy Class. Together with Air France, KLM will be offering a total of four weekly flights to Luanda.

Launching service to oil destination Luanda will serve to strengthen KLM’s position in Africa. This region is of key importance to the extensive Air France KLM network. The Air France KLM Group will be serving 45 destinations in Africa this winter.

With effect from 14 November 2011, flight KL581 will depart from Schiphol on Mondays at 13:20 hours and arrive in Luanda on the same day at 21:55 hours. The return flight (KL582) will depart from Luanda at 23:55 hours, arriving back in Amsterdam on the following day at 8:30 hours. Flight KL583 will depart from Schiphol on Fridays at 13:20 hours and arrive in Luanda on the same day at 21:55 hours. The return flight will depart later that night at 01:15 hours, arriving back at Schiphol the next day at 09:45 hours. Flights can be booked from today in the reservations systems and at www.klm.com.
