KLM and the Rijksmuseum present five “artful” wines

In 2019, KLM Royal Dutch Airlines marks its 100th anniversary, while the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam marks the 350th anniversary of Rembrandt van Rijn’s death, with the Year of Rembrandt. KLM and the Rijksmuseum will jointly celebrate these momentous milestones by presenting five unique “Night Watch Wines”.

Every wine label features an iconic detail from Rembrandt’s masterpiece “The Night Watch”, which he completed in 1642. In October 2019, the wines will be served to KLM’s World Business Class passengers on intercontinental flights.

In mid-2019, the Rijksmuseum launched Operation Night Watch, the biggest and most diverse research and restoration project of Rembrandt’s masterpiece ever undertaken. The research includes high-resolution photography and multiple advanced imaging methods. A total of more than 10,000 super-high-resolution photos will be made, which will allow unique details to be analysed.
