SkyTeam Launches the 1,000 Destination Challenge

Summary

SkyTeam, the global airline alliance, has reached a total of 1,000 destinations on its global route map. The alliance and its 19 members now offer customers a combined worldwide network that has grown by 17% over two years. To celebrate, SkyTeam is challenging its 165,000 Facebook fans to put their travel knowledge to the test in a new ‘Destination Challenge’ game.

Available via SkyTeam’s Facebook page, the game gives globetrotters 30 seconds to correctly guess a series of three-letter airport codes that are served by SkyTeam.  Scores can then be posted on competitors’ walls, inviting their friends to see if they can do better. There is no limit to the number of times the game can be played and airport codes are selected at random each time.

In 2012 alone, SkyTeam has expanded considerably. The alliance has added four new airlines: Saudia, MEA, Aerolíneas Argentinas and Xiamen Airlines. SkyTeam is the second-largest alliance in terms of network size, and with four members from the region, the #1 in Greater China.

“SkyTeam takes customers wherever they want to go, whenever they want to fly,” said Fatima da Gloria de Sousa, SkyTeam’s director of Brand and Communications. “We have a vocal, vibrant and ever-growing Facebook community and this is a fun and interactive way to help them discover the exciting network we have to offer.”

With 1,000 destinations to choose before they fly, customers can make the most of every travel opportunity thanks to SkyTeam’s enhanced travel pass portfolio. This includes Round the World tickets and seven regional travel passes: Go Africa, Go USA and Canada, Go Asia and South West Pacific, Go Europe, Go Greater China, Go Russia and Go Mexico. SkyTeam’s Go Passes have recently been redesigned to offer even more flexible and cost effective travel, with significant discounts off published fares, and are ideal for customers with multi-city itineraries within a particular region traveling for business or leisure.
