Senior Vice President Digital at Air France KLM departs

Tjalling Smit, SVP of Digital Air France KLM has decided to pursue his career elsewhere. Effective 1 April 2017, he will join NS Dutch Railways as Director of Commerce & Development on the company’s executive board.

I congratulate Tjalling on this great promotion and wish him the best of success. We will miss his expertise and experience. With his ‘being-where-our-customers-are’ strategy, Tjalling further developed KLM’s activities in the fields of e-commerce and digital. His successor will be appointed shortly and will face the challenge of maintaining KLM’s lead in e-commerce and digital, and elevating it to an even higher level.”
Pieter Elbers, president directeur KLM
KLM has given me many opportunities to hold a variety of posts in the Netherlands and beyond, where I have always worked with wonderful colleagues. This made the decision to leave this superb company more difficult, but I ultimately decided that I should pursue my career elsewhere. I sincerely hope that KLM manages to retain its lead in the digital field.
