Peter Hartman Succeeds Tom Enders as Chairman of ACARE

Summary

Peter Hartman, Vice-Chairman of AIR FRANCE KLM with effect from 1 July 2013, has been appointed as the next chairman of ACARE, the Advisory Council for Aviation Research and Innovation in Europe at the 50th Paris Air Show at Le Bourget airport.

Mr Hartman will be succeeding Tom Enders, who served as chairman of ACARE in his capacity as CEO of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS).

Since 2001, ACARE has maintained a Europe-wide network for strategic research into aeronautical and aviation policy. In this manner, the airline industry can continue to meet society’s demands. What’s more, ACARE contributes towards reinforcing Europe’s leading role in the airline industry.

For example, ACARE issues recommendations to the European Commission for more environmentally friendly aircraft in the long term, without eroding the viability of the airlines. This includes innovation in the field of alternative fuels, aircraft design, passenger perceptions at airports and European certification processes for aircraft components and systems.
