Almost 2 million more passengers for KLM Group in first two quarters

Summary

The KLM Group is ending the first half of 2017 with very strong traffic figures for KLM and Transavia. KLM welcomed 8.6% more passengers on board its flights in June against a capacity increase of 6.5%. This led to a record load factor of 89.3% in June. Over the first six months of the year, the company saw growth of 1.2 million passengers (8.3%), totalling almost 15.6 million passengers, against a capacity increase of 6%.

The hard work of all our KLM and Transavia staff is beginning to bear fruit. Our strategy of focusing on the customer, product and expanding the network is paying off. These are figures we can truly be proud of!
Pieter Elbers - KLM President & CEO

The KLM Group grew in the first half of 2017 by 11% and almost 20 million passengers. This puts KLM well on track to meet its 2017 target of more than 40 million passengers for KLM and Transavia.

The largest increase in passenger numbers was in Europe.

Despite a slight recovery in recent months, Cargo did not have an easy half year. Traffic dropped across the board by 1.3% against a 0.4% cut in capacity. This led to a slight fall in load factor of 0.6 point.
